BLOCK CENTROIDS (NAD83)

Analyzing your target market geographic data, Census block centroids in particular, is the key to implementing a cost-effective marketing strategy. Use of geographic data at the Census block centroid level will help you improve target marketing, plot sales territories, locate new customers and prospects or your competitors on the map, and identify untapped market opportunities.

Census Blocks are usually small areas bounded on all sides by visible features such as streets, roads, streams, rivers or railroad tracks, and by invisible boundaries such as property lines, legal limits, and short imaginary extensions of streets, and roads. Generally, the relative size of a Census Block fluctuates with population. The smaller the Census Block the greater the density of the population and vice-versa.

Bamberg-Handley's database consists of the approximate center point of each block. It is low in cost and ideal for many marketing projects which do not require thematic mapping. The Block Boundary files described earlier are needed if thematics are to be displayed.
